Magic Numbers sensitive about their weight

The Magic Numbers

In my own brief review of the Magic Numbers performance at the Oxegen Festival in Ireland last month, I expressed my thorough enjoyment of the band, tossing off parenthetically that "there ought to be more portly folk in rock and roll."

The Magic Numbers, known as one of the nicest bands playing the rock scene today, say they are used to comments about their weight, but when Richard Bacon introduced them recently on Britain's Top of The Pops (TOTP) by saying "What do you get when you put two brothers and two sisters in a band? A big fat melting pot of talent," it was a bit much for the band, and they walked out of the studio without performing.
